Do you know a local group or organisation deserving of recognition in resilience and recovery?

Lithgow Council

Lithgow Council is urging local organisations and groups to apply for the NSW Get Ready Community award and the Resilient Australia Awards.

Coordinated by Resilience NSW, the NSW Get Ready Community Award will recognise a community that has worked together to make their community more prepared and better able to recover from disasters.

The Resilient Australia Awards celebrate and promote initiatives that build whole of community resilience to disasters and emergencies around Australia, as well as images capturing resilience in action. These are managed by the Australian Institute for Disaster Resilience (AIDR).

Lithgow City Council is aware of many local organisations and groups working on initiatives to help the Lithgow community better prepare for, respond to or recover from a disaster. Applying for these awards is one way of celebrating and sharing the inspiring initiatives that help the community.

“The Lithgow Community has shown incredible resilience. We have many shining ambassadors who have shown enormous courage, collaboration and support for others and that’s why we are encouraging local organisations and groups to apply for these prestigious awards,” Mayor Ray Thompson said.

Applications for the NSW Get Ready Community award close on 15 June 2021 and projects that are underway or finished can enter. Project entries can also be submitted by a local organisation on behalf of a community.

Applications for the Resilient Australia Awards close on 3 June 2021 and must relate to projects or initiatives that commenced after 1 January 2019, or demonstrate significant outcomes or enhancements since 1 January 2019.
