Dolphins Women’s 100m freestyle and relay camp at AIS

Athletes from the Australian Swimming Women’s 100m freestyle and relay squads are in camp at the AIS as preparations continue for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Gold medallist Cate Campbell spoke to the media after training on Monday and said the camp was the perfect opportunity for the team to come together.

“We’re here training at the AIS, it is one of the best pools to swim in,” said Campbell.

“It’s a really good chance to consolidate our relay preparation.

“We have great depth. We have great coaches and we have a great system that helps support that.”

The camp, held at the AIS from 2-7 March, forms part of a series of National Event Camps ahead of the Hancock Prospecting Australian Swimming trials coming up in June.

29 year-old Campbell is preparing for her fourth appearance at an Olympic Games in Tokyo and says it is “surreal” to think about, but she is ready to give it a “red hot crack”.

“I’m making sure that I’m enjoying every moment of this career.

“Because it’s not going to last forever”
