Domestic violence offences in Darwin

Northern Territory Police have charged a 35-year-old male and a 42-year-old female with assault in two separate domestic violence incidents.

At around 3.30pm yesterday, police responded to an incident at The Gardens. A 49-year-old woman had sustained injuries and required transport to Royal Darwin Hospital.

A 35-year-old man was arrested and conveyed to Palmerston Watch House where he was charged with:

  • breach DVO
  • aggravated assault

He was remanded in custody to appear in the Darwin Local Court on 15 February 2021.

Later in the day, police attended an assault in Yarrawonga. A 49-year-old man required hospitalisation.

A 42-year-old female was arrested and conveyed to Palmerston Watch House where she was charged with:

  • recklessly endanger serious harm
  • unlawfully cause serious harm
  • aggravated assault
  • armed with offensive weapon

She was remanded in custody to appear in the Darwin Local Court on 17 March 2021.

Detective Senior Sergeant Warren Scott said, “Alleviating domestic violence is an effort required by the whole community. We need to say ‘no more’ to domestic violence.
