The Darwin Triple Crown will enter an exciting new era in 2027, with the introduction of twilight racing marking a bold new chapter for the event’s 29th year in the Top End.
Set to take place from 18-20 June 2027, the new format represents a major evolution of one of the Northern Territory’s premier events, positioning the Darwin round as one of the most distinctive and exciting fixtures on the national Supercars calendar.
The introduction of twilight racing, coupled with the prestigious Darwin Triple Crown, will deliver an exciting experience for motorsport fans at Hidden Valley. Awarded to the overall winner of the event, the Triple Crown is the weekend’s ultimate prize, and one that has been claimed just four times since its inception in 2006.
Set against the backdrop of Darwin’s iconic dry season sunsets and tropical evenings, the new format will transform the fan experience both on and off the track. The new racing schedule will unlock enhanced entertainment, spectacular light displays, pyrotechnics and live music, creating a festival atmosphere unique to the Northern Territory.
Later race times will encourage visitors to spend more time exploring Darwin’s attractions, hospitality venues and tourism experiences before heading trackside, while a twilight finish will drive spectators into the city’s restaurants, bars and entertainment precincts well into the evening.
The Darwin Triple Crown continues to be a major driver of the Northern Territory visitor economy. In 2026, the event generated total expenditure of $29.36 million, with nearly 80 per cent occurring in Darwin. The event also delivered $24.98 million in new money to the Territory economy, including $18.94 million spent in Darwin, reinforcing its importance as one of the Territory’s premier major events and a key contributor to tourism and economic growth.
Next year’s event will feature a Friday night race under the lights, a Saturday race into the evening, and a Sunday day-time race, serving as the sixth of 14 rounds on the 2027 Repco Supercars Championship calendar which features races across Australia and New Zealand.
