Double fatality in two-car crash, NSW

Two people have died and three others suffered serious injuries following a two-vehicle crash in the state’s south today.

About 3pm today (Friday 15 November 2019), emergency services were called to the Snowy Mountain Highway, Adaminaby, northwest of Cooma, after reports a silver Honda CRV travelling east and a grey Mitsubishi Pajero travelling west had a head-on collision.

The driver, a 72-year-old man, and front passenger, a 75-year-old man, of the Honda died at the scene.

Two rear passengers in the Honda, both 75-year-old men, suffered critical injuries.

The driver of the Mitsubishi, a 35-year-old woman, sustained a suspected fractured right leg. She was taken to Canberra Hospital for treatment.

Three children in the back seat of the Mitsubishi were uninjured.

The Snowy Mountains Highway remains closed in both directions and traffic diversions are in place.

Officers from Monaro Police District established a crime scene and commenced investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
