Local young people have come into clear focus, with Council endorsing its draft Camden Youth Strategy 2022-26 for public exhibition at this week’s Ordinary Meeting.

The draft Camden Youth Strategy is set to guide Council’s support of young people, ensuring they are mentally, physically and socially connected. It will also help foster a strong sense of belonging to the Camden area.

The Strategy identifies five key priorities, including:

  • Youth mental health and wellbeing;
  • Youth employment;
  • Community connections;
  • Youth voice and empowerment; and,
  • Safety.

Mayor of Camden, Cr Therese Fedeli, said it was important to hear from the community on the draft strategy.

“Council is committed to helping all our residents, and the draft Camden Youth Strategy is key to setting goals to help our local young people,” Cr Fedeli said.

“Young people aged from 12 to 24 years make up 17.5 per cent of Camden’s population. It’s so important to us that we assist them as they go through their formative years, and they feel heard and valued.

“I encourage the community to give their feedback on the draft Strategy and look forward to their responses.”

The draft Camden Youth Strategy 2022-26 will be on public exhibition from Wednesday 18 May to Wednesday 15 June, and will be accessible on yourvoice.camden.nsw.gov.au
