Drainage project to improve stormwater flow

Bass Coast Shire Council will start drainage renewal works in Wonthaggi this month, near 104 McKenzie Street.

These works will contain and manage stormwater runoff and flows of the catchment, within the designated drainage reserve area.

This $180,000 project is an important part of Council’s Stormwater Drainage Renewal Program and will improve stormwater drainage service levels in the area.

The works are set to start in early August and be completed by the end of October and will include the installation of underground stormwater drainage pipes and pits.

The existing gravel footpath will be realigned around a new earth embankment, which will be created as part of the project.

These works will include the use of large plant and machinery and might be noisy at times. Council understands that these works may present an inconvenience to nearby residents, schools and businesses and appreciates their patience. The contractor will make every effort to minimise disruptions during construction. Appropriate pedestrian control measures will be implemented onsite during these works.
