Drink driver nabbed at Dromana

Highway Patrol officers have caught a drink driver at a random breath testing site on Nepean Highway in Dromana tonight, 16 April.

A Honda CRV with two adults and two children inside was observed pulling over just before the site around 5.30pm.

Police allege the female passenger swapped seats with the male driver then drove toward the testing site.

A preliminary breath test was conducted on the original driver, and he returned a positive reading.

The man was taken to a nearby police station where he returned an evidentiary breath test of 0.205.

The 39-year-old Thomastown man had his license suspended immediately and must surrender his vehicle for impound in the next 10 days.

This impound was part of Operation Compass, the state-wide road policing operation during the high-risk Easter holiday period.

Police are targeting impaired driving, speed, distraction, and fatigue in high-risk areas throughout metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria.

Operation Compass concludes at 11.59pm on Monday, 25 April.
