State Highway Patrol officers allegedly detected a driver travelling at 152km/h in a 100km/h zone on the Western Freeway near Gordon earlier today.
Police intercepted the female driver who was driving with her two children, aged four and five years, just after 3pm.
The woman underwent a roadside oral fluid test which returned a positive result.
The 36-year-old Greenvale woman will have her car impounded and is expected to be charged with exceeding the speed limit and possible drug-driving offences.
This intercept forms part of Operation Regal, a four-day operation targeting high-risk driving behaviour on Victorian roads over the Queen’s Birthday long weekend.
The state-wide operation aims to reduce road trauma, including the number of lives lost and injuries on our roads. Police will be targeting speed, alcohol and drug impaired driving, fatigue, driver distraction and failure to wear seatbelts.
Over the past five Queen’s Birthday weekends, there have been 17 lives lost on our roads and a further 980 people injured, as well as 48,811 traffic and criminal offences detected.
