Drugs, firearms and cash seized after routine intercept in Niddrie

Detectives from Moonee Valley Crime Investigation Unit have seized drugs, firearms and cash following a routine intercept in Niddrie on Friday.

A Taylors Hill man was intercepted in Keilor Road about 6pm.

Police searched the white Toyota Hilux and located approximately two kilograms of drugs.

The man was arrested, and a subsequent search warrant was executed at a property on Saturday 11 July, in Jacaranda Drive, Taylors Hill.

Police located a substantial quantity of drugs along with two loaded handguns, two sawn-off shot guns, ammunition, cannabis plants, steroids and $30K cash.

He was charged with 18 offences including; possess unregistered handgun (x4), traffic large commercial quantity of a drug of dependence and possession of traffickable quantity of firearms, prohibited person possess firearm (x4), cultivate a narcotic plant and deal with property suspected of being the proceeds of crime.

The 33-year-old was remanded to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 24 August.
