Regional investigations Unit detectives have charged a man after an incident at a store in East Perth last night, Friday 12 November 2021, involving an armed man demanding food be cooked for him.
About 9:00pm a man entered the Bennett Street store and ordered hot chips. It will be alleged when he was advised the kitchen was closed he showed the staff he was carrying knives and threatened to kill staff if the chips were not cooked for him.
Fearing for their safety the staff commenced cooking his order and notified police.
Perth Police attended the scene under emergency conditions and arrived a few minutes later while the man was waiting for his order. He was arrested without incident. The knives, and the cash the man placed on the counter to pay for his order, were seized.
A 24-year-old man from Parmelia has been charged with:
-Threatened to kill
-Being armed in a way that may cause fear
-Fail to comply with a request to give police personal details
He was refused bail and is due to appear in the Perth Magistrates Court today, Saturday 13 November 2021.
