Sydney, Australia / Wuhan, China, 20 August 2026 — Education Centre of Australia (ECA) and Wuhan University (WHU) have signed a landmark partnership agreement to deliver ECA’s first Australian qualification in China, marking a significant step in ECA’s transnational education (TNE) strategy.

The agreement, signed in July 2026 following almost a year of strategic discussions and collaboration, establishes a framework for academic cooperation between the two institutions. Under the partnership, ECA College will deliver Diploma courses in Information Technology through Wuhan University’s College of Continuing Education, enabling students to access Australian education while studying in China.

As part of the initiative, ECA College has successfully registered Wuhan University as an approved offshore delivery site with the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA), establishing ECA’s first offshore delivery location in China.

Expanding Educational Opportunities in China

The Diploma courses are designed for students in China seeking practical, internationally oriented education that supports their progression to higher education and future career aspirations.

Through these courses, students will have opportunities to develop practical knowledge, industry-relevant capabilities and broader perspectives in their chosen discipline. By making Australian education available locally, the partnership provides students with greater choice in how and where they pursue an international education.

The collaboration brings together ECA College’s experience in Australian education with Wuhan University’s academic environment and local expertise, creating an educational experience that combines international perspectives with the benefits of studying closer to home.

Partnership with One of China’s Leading Universities

Founded in 1893, Wuhan University is a leading comprehensive and research-intensive university in China. A member of China’s Double First-Class Initiative, the University is recognised nationally and internationally for its strengths in teaching, research and innovation.

For ECA, the partnership represents an opportunity to deepen its engagement in China while working with Wuhan University to broaden educational opportunities for students and establish a strong foundation for long-term collaboration.

Lina Wang, Regional Director, Greater China, Education Centre of Australia, said:

“We are proud to work with Wuhan University to create more opportunities for students in China to access Australian education closer to home. Through this partnership, we hope to support students in developing practical knowledge, broader perspectives and capabilities that will help them progress to higher education and pursue their future career goals.”

Stephanie Smith, Trade and Investment Commissioner (Mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan), Australian Trade and Investment Commission, said:

“I would like to acknowledge ECA’s commitment to supporting students through quality education, vocational training, higher education pathways, and comprehensive student services. It is wonderful to see this new program creating additional pathways for talented students to pursue their international education aspirations. Together, Wuhan University and ECA are opening new opportunities for students to gain international experience and prepare for future success in a global environment.

To all students considering this program, I encourage you to embrace the opportunities ahead. Your studies in Wuhan will provide a strong academic foundation, and your future studies in Australia will offer valuable experiences, new perspectives, and connections that can last a lifetime.”
