Eighth person charged as part of ongoing investigation into cocaine seizure, NSW

Detectives have charged an eighth person as part of an ongoing joint investigation into the supply of prohibited drugs which has so far seen the seizure of more than 420kg of cocaine.

Last year, the State Crime Command’s Organised Crime Squad, together with the Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission (ACIC) and the NSW Crime Commission, established Strike Force Irwine to investigate the supply of cocaine across NSW.

So far during the investigation, detectives have charged six men – aged 18, 21, 24, 27, 33 and 39 – and a 39-year-old woman. All seven remain before the courts.

Following further investigations, strike force detectives arrested a 24-year-old woman at a home in Warwick Farm about 4.30pm last Thursday (16 April 2020).

She was taken to Liverpool Police Station where she was charged with be knowingly concerned in an offence take part supply prohibited drug (large commercial quantity).

The woman appeared at Liverpool Local Court on Friday 17 April 2020, where she was formally refused bail to reappear at the same court today (Monday 20 April 2020).

So far during the investigation, Strike Force Irwine detectives have seized more than 420kg of cocaine, which has an estimated potential street value of nearly $130 million.
