Elderly woman hit by car in Leichhardt

Police are investigating after a pedestrian was hit by a vehicle in Sydney’s Inner West earlier today.

About 8.20am (Monday 19 April 2021), emergency services were called to the City West Link, near the intersection of Norton Street, Leichhardt, following reports a pedestrian had been hit by a black Honda Jazz.

The pedestrian, an 87-year-old woman, was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics for a suspected broken leg, before being taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in a stable condition.

The female driver, aged 37, was taken to the same hospital for mandatory blood and urine testing.

Officers from Leichhardt Police Area Command secured a crime scene and the Crash Investigation Unit commenced inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
