Embarrassing blunder shows Premier out of his depth

Tasmanian Labor

The Premier is so desperate to avoid speaking about the crisis in our health system that he tried to avoid answering a question from his own backbench in Parliament today.

After being asked a Dorothy Dixer on the pressures in our hospital emergency departments – the day after the LGH told people not to attend its emergency department due to the high level of demand – Jeremy Rockliff instead spoke about the local government elections.

Either the Premier, who is also the part-time Health Minister, didn’t want to acknowledge the crisis in health or he incompetently started reading from a prepared answer on the local government elections without realising.

Tasmanians know the Premier isn’t listening to them about their priorities and now, it seems, he isn’t listening to his own backbench either.

The Premier’s embarrassing blunder in Question Time today is yet another example of a government struggling to get the basics right.
