- Cook Labor Government launches new WA Sport Development Pathways Strategy

The Cook Labor Government will invest $4.5 million over the next three years to strengthen sporting pathway environments and experiences for athletes, coaches, and officials across Western Australia.
The investment forms part of the new WA Sport Development Pathways Strategy, launched today to help State Sporting Associations (SSAs) create stronger development opportunities and clearer pathways from community participation through to high performance.
Developed in consultation with SSAs, the Western Australian Institute of Sport and national sporting bodies, the strategy provides a long-term framework to help drive the capability of the State’s sporting sector and ensure athletes, coaches, and officials have the support they need to thrive in a development pathway environment.
The strategy focusses on strengthening coaching and officiating, improving athlete development pathways, building the organisational capability of SSAs, and sharing knowledge and practices across the sporting sector.
The new WA Sport Development Pathways Grant Program will help turn the strategy into action, providing SSAs with funding to design and deliver projects that strengthen the environments, systems and experiences that support the development of athletes, coaches, and officials.
Eligible SSAs can apply for up to $75,000 in the first year, followed by up to $50,000 in each of the following two years.
