Your local government election is coming in October, giving you a chance to choose who represents your community.

Local government elections shape the future of the City of Swan, so it is important that you are enrolled to vote.

To make sure you receive your voting package in the mail, check that you are enrolled with the Western Australian Electoral Commission (WAEC) by 5pm on Friday, August 25.

If you are already enrolled, check that your details are up-to-date.

While voting in local government elections is not compulsory, it is a valuable opportunity to have your say on the future of the City.

Every vote counts.

This year’s election will look a little different for City of Swan voters, with the following changes to come into effect:

  • Ward boundaries – some ward boundaries will be altered to ensure fair and equal Councillor representation
  • Councillor numbers – the number of Councillors will be reduced from 15 to 14
  • Optional preferential voting – vote for one candidate, or vote for multiple candidates in order of your preference
  • Vote for Mayor – you will vote for who represents your community as Mayor
  • Postal vote – you will receive a voting package in the mail, which you can return completed by supplied reply paid envelope.
