EOIs open for Access and Inclusion Advisory Committee

Darwin City Council

City of Darwin is seeking expressions of interest for community members to join our Access and Inclusion Advisory Committee.

The Access and Inclusion Advisory Committee aims to advocate, inform, and guide Council on improved access and inclusion for all people, particularly people with disabilities, living, working, studying or visiting Darwin.

City of Darwin Lord Mayor Kon Vatskalis said being part of the Access and Inclusion Advisory Committee was a great way for people to represent the needs of the Darwin community.

“The Access and Inclusion Advisory Committee contributes to the development and implementation of policy, procedures, planning and programming to increase community inclusion outcomes,” Mr Vatskalis said.

“The committee helps identify actions City of Darwin can take to improve access to and inclusion in Council’s services, facilities and programs,” he said.

The Access and Inclusion Advisory Committee aims to identify gaps, issues and challenges relating to access and inclusion and to provide guidance to City of Darwin to advocate to local businesses, services and organisations to address these concerns.

The committee keeps Council informed on industry developments, standards and legislation, which can improve access and inclusion to Council services, facilities and programs.

The Committee currently meets six times a year between February and November and is made up of community members and representatives from the National Disability Services NT, Council on the Ageing NT and the Northern Territory Government.

Applications to join the Access and Inclusion Advisory Committee close on Monday 19 February 2024.

Applications from people with lived experience of disability are encouraged.
