Detectives from the Fugitive Squad, with assistance from Ballarat Crime Investigation Unit, have arrested escapee Daniel Briffa in Ballarat East today.
Briffa was arrested at a residential property about 10.30am this morning without incident.
The 50-year-old has been charged with escape and will face Ballarat Magistrates’ Court this afternoon.
Today’s arrest follows an incident on 4 September where Briffa left a correctional facility in Trawalla.
A significant search has been underway for him since that time and police would like to thank members of the public and media for their assistance.
