Evade Police Arrest – Coodanup

Mandurah Police have charged a woman after a stolen vehicle failed to stop for police in Coodanup last night, Saturday 22 February 2020.

About 11:50pm Mandurah Police were on patrol when they observed a blue Suzuki Alto hatch, which had been reported stolen, being driven on Pinjarra Road, Coodanup. An attempt was made to stop the vehicle, however it will be alleged the driver failed to stop and the attempt to stop the vehicle was aborted a short time later.

The Suzuki was later observed by officers from the Traffic Enforcement Group being driven on Gordon Road, Greenfields. The officers did not attempt to stop the vehicle and monitored its movements through several streets.

The Suzuki was driven west along Cooper Street and it will be alleged the driver failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of Anstruther Road and crashed into a Toyota Camry that was being driven south on Anstruther Road.

The three occupants of the Suzuki exited the vehicle. One of the passengers was arrested at the scene, while the driver and a second passenger fled on foot. The driver was arrested a short distance away.

No one was injured in the crash, however St John Ambulance was called to the scene as a precaution.

The driver of the stolen Suzuki, a 20-year-old woman from Coodanup, has been charged with Steal Motor Vehicle & Drive Recklessly, Fail to Stop, Reckless Driving and No Authority to Drive.

She is due to appear in the Mandurah Magistrates Court on Tuesday 17 March 2020.

The passenger was released without charge. The investigation into other incidents linked to the stolen vehicle is ongoing.
