Evenings with Genetics: Does genetics influence behavior?

Genetics influences everything from eye color to cancer risk. So how does our genetics impact our behavior? Baylor College of Medicine will host an Evenings with Genetics virtual seminar to address this question on Tuesday, May 10, at 7 p.m.

The webinar will explore the genetic factors that contribute to how humans act. It will also highlight genetic conditions that have specific behavioral characteristics. Dr. Daryl Scott, a professor in the Department of Molecular and Human Genetics at Baylor, will lead the discussion. A guest parent speaker will join the panel.

“We often assume that our behavior is completely under our control, and that the way we react to various situations has nothing to do with the genes we inherited from our parents,” Scott said. “Those who attend this seminar will be surprised at the multiple lines of evidence that would suggest otherwise.”

Evenings with Genetics is a regular speaker series hosted by Baylor and Texas Children’s Hospital that offers the most current information on care and research advances for many genetic conditions.
