Events to love at Melton Library this Valentine’s Day

Singles looking for love are invited to Melton Library this February for two special events on online dating.

Held as part of Library Lovers Day, the events coincide with this year’s theme to ‘uncover something new’.

Hear from author and The Age columnist, Kerri Sackville about her online dating experiences on Thursday 13 February, and join a workshop on popular dating apps and sites on Wednesday 19 February.

Sackville’s talk, based on her real life dating mistakes, will help people learn what to expect when joining a dating site, who to avoid, who is worth a shot and, importantly, how to protect yourself along the way.

The following week, library staff will hold a practical workshop to help people explore the benefits, costs, risks and how to make the most of popular online dating platforms.

City of Melton Mayor Cr Lara Carli encouraged locals looking for love to come along to the fun and practical events.

“More than ever, people are meeting their partners online and these events are a great way to learn how to spot the right person for you and how to stay safe when meeting new people,” Cr Carli said.

“Understanding modern dating is as much about finding romance as it is about avoiding scams and dangerous situations.

“Get a funny and realistic insight into everything from the perils of chemistry, to the pain of breakups, and take the mystery out of modern dating with these two events.”
