Exhibition triple treat heralds Toowoomba Regional Art Gallery’s re-opening on September 10, 2022

A triple treat exhibition program and free family activities herald Toowoomba Regional Art Gallery’s re-opening from Saturday, September 10, 2022.

Toowoomba Regional Council Library and Cultural Services portfolio leader Cr Tim McMahon said the re-opening was ideally timed to take advantage of the packed 73rd Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers program, which runs for the month of September.

Cr McMahon said the Gallery’s September exhibition schedule included a touring exhibition from the Queensland Art Gallery and Gallery of Modern Art (QAGOMA) titled, Asia Pacific Contemporary: Three Decades of APT, which was a showcase of highlights from QAGOMA’s long-running Asia Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art series of exhibitions.

“Toowoomba Regional Art Gallery is thrilled to join the touring schedule for an exhibition that profiles key moments from QAGOMA’s flagship exhibition series,” Cr McMahon said. (A satellite exhibition Asia Pacific Video will be on display at Rosalie Gallery until October 30.)

“Families and children can experience free, hands-on art-making activities when TRAG hosts APT10 Kids on Tour on behalf of QAGOMA from September 10 to October 2.

“Carnival time in Toowoomba means the subtle beauty of Ikebana, the traditional art of Japanese flower arrangement, will again feature in the Ikebana Display 2022 by the Toowoomba Ikebana Group.
