The Cook Labor Government is calling for expressions of interest from investors to deliver 200 more Government Regional Officer Housing (GROH) properties through its expanded GROH Investor Program.
Following the additional $692 million investment into regional housing in this year’s State Budget, the expanded program offers more opportunities for investors to deliver build-to-lease GROH properties as part of the State Government’s Seven Cities vision.
Seven Cities is a long-term vision to unlock the next wave of regional economic development and deliver quality infrastructure and services.
GROH is seeking expressions of interest (EOIs) from investors in the major regional centres of Kalgoorlie, Port Hedland, Karratha, Broome, Geraldton, and Albany.
The EOI will support new homes for GROH in regional cities to be delivered over five years.
The GROH program plays a vital role in ensuring that regional Western Australian communities have access to critical services, by providing essential government workers a place to call home.
Investigations are underway to expand the build-to-lease program to encourage institutional investment.

As stated by Housing and Works Minister John Carey:
“We’re calling on the private sector to work with us to deliver 200 additional GROH homes as part of our record housing investment.
“To continue to deliver high quality services in our growing regional cities, we will need additional homes for our teachers, police and other essential government workers.
“The expanded GROH Investor Program and the Seven Cities vision is supported by our government’s record $10.8 billion investment in housing since 2021.”
