Locals and tourists have a new way to see the best of Hobsons Bay with the launch of a bus tour.

The one-day tour takes in the highlights of Hobsons Bay’s maritime history, parklands, beaches and foodie hotspots.

The tour will run every Tuesday and Saturday until April, with pick-up/drop-off locations in the Melbourne CBD and Williamstown.

Both tours take in Williamstown Botanic Gardens and beach, Truganina Coastal Park and Newport Lakes.

The Tuesday tour includes a stop in Pier Street, Altona for lunch and a wander through the Altona Beach market, while the Saturday tour takes passengers to Grazeland in Spotswood for lunch.

The tourism initiative was a successful Pitch Your Project applicant, and the tour is delivered by experienced tourism operator Explore Australia.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children under the age of 16. Bookings can be made at Experience Hobsons Bay.

Quotes attributable to Mayor of Hobsons Bay, Cr Matt Tyler:

“Often Melbournians from outside the west don’t think of Hobsons Bay as a destination for a day trip but we are here to set the record straight. We want to share the beauty of the west with as many people as possible.

“There’s so much to do and see here, and we think that once people get a taste of what we have to offer, they’ll keep coming back for more.

“We’d love to see Hobsons Bay residents share the tour with their visiting friends and family whenever they’re in Melbourne from interstate or overseas.”
