An Extreme Fire Danger rating has been declared for Saturday 9 March 2024 for our area.
Fires will spread quickly and be extremely dangerous. Expect hot, dry and windy conditions.
Changes to Council services for Saturday 9 March 2024:
- Our waste transfer station at Anglesea will be closed by 10am.
- Lorne and Winchelsea transfer stations will be closed.
- Anglesea Resale Shed will be closed.
- Anglesea Landfill will be closed (as per usual weekend schedule).
- Street litter bin collections will occur early in the morning across the shire. There will be additional afternoon collections for street litter bins in Torquay only.*
- The Lorne and Anglesea Visitor Information Centres will be closed, but a remote service will be offered by the Torquay Visitor Information Centre, which will remain open.*
*Torquay, being an urban area, has a lower risk profile than other areas in the shire so services that are closed elsewhere can continue in Torquay.
Torquay Library will be a cool place to go. It’s opening hours have been extended this weekend.
