The Australian Republic Movement has joined Australians and New Zealanders in commemorating ANZAC Day.
National Director and CEO Isaac Jeffrey said: “ANZAC Day is time to honour our service men and women. It is a time to embrace and to thank our soldiers, sailors, airmen and women, and their families for their dedication and sacrifice. It’s a time to show our pride and our appreciation for those who have worn the uniform to defend our nation, our allies, our values and our democracy.
“At a time of heightened global tensions, we reflect on the trauma and grief of war. We look to our history to see the horrors of conflict and hold onto hope for a future of lasting peace. A peace secured by the presence and professionalism of our military, and our enduring alliances.”
The brave men and women of the Australian Defence Force have and continue to serve Australia with courage, valour and distinction – and they do so to protect the very freedoms and liberties we all take for granted, including our democratic and human rights.
“On behalf of the Australian Republic Movement, I thank all those military personnel who have served, are serving and will serve in the ADF.”This ANZAC Day we give thanks for their service and commit to never let the memory of their sacrifice fade.
“At the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember them.”
