Free Family Fun For Children’s Week In 2026

VIC Premier

Thousands of Victorian children will have the chance to explore new cultures, build friendships and have fun.

The Carroll Labor Government is supporting a huge week of free, fun and educational activities for children and families during Children’s Week (24 October to 1 November).

Minister for Children Lizzie Blandthorn today announced grants totalling $152,600 will be shared by 164 not-for-profit organisations to deliver Children’s Week activities.

This ranges from sports activities, cooking demonstrations and interactive drumming sessions to dance performances and traditional craft-making events.

Children’s Week encourages thousands of young Victorians and their families to attend free events hosted by not-for-profit groups, libraries and community groups.

Grant recipients this year include:

  • Nourish Nation Foundation, presenting cultural cooking demonstrations and fun activities in Dandenong.
  • Bluebird Foundation, hosting interactive drumming, songs and movement, led by One Spirit Africa in Geelong.
  • Malaysia-Singapore Sikh Association Incorporated, celebrating traditional Sikh and Punjabi festivities through dance, music, storytelling and interactive cultural activities in Werribee.
  • Thai Education Centre of Victoria, inviting families to learn about Thai culture through craft, traditional games, language, food, music and dance in Ballarat.

This year’s theme is “Children have the right to use their own language, celebrate their culture and practise their religion”, based on Article 30 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.

Last year 29,500 children and families took part in 240 Children’s Week events supported by the Victorian Government.
