F is for fail: Police bust burglars on campus

Two people will face court after workers disrupted them during an alleged burglary at a university in Albany on the weekend.

Waitematā East Area Prevention Manager, Inspector Todd Moore-Carter, says Police were called at around 3.40pm yesterday after workers disturbed the intruders.

“Our staff arrived quickly and swiftly apprehended two offenders, who were hiding within the building.

“We believe the offenders were there to steal copper from the building following similar reports in recent weeks.”

Inspector Moore-Carter says enquiries are ongoing to determine if any of the incidents are linked.

“I’d like to praise the actions of the workers, who called 111 straight away and provided excellent information, which allowed our teams to locate these offenders and hold them to account.”

A 37-year-old man will appear in North Shore District Court today charged with burglary.
