Families invited to join in free Pop-up Playgroup for Children’s Week

Baw Baw Shire families are invited to join in the fun at the upcoming Pop-up Playgroup session being hosted by Council as part of Children’s Week.

Children’s Week is a national celebration held each October that recognises the talents, skills, achievements and rights of children. This year it will run from Saturday 19 October to Sunday 27 October 2024, with thousands of Victorian children and families taking part in the festivities.

This year’s theme is ‘Children have the right to a clean and safe environment’ and is based on Article 24 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC).

This theme celebrates the right of children to enjoy childhood and highlight the importance of every child’s right to have a clean and safe environment. It also celebrates the talents, skills and achievements of children, and their right to connect with others and respectfully share their views.

To celebrate Children’s Week, Baw Baw Shire Council will be hosting a free Pop-up Playgroup session.

This is a great opportunity for children and their families to engage the senses, capture the imagination, and encourage creative expression.

The session will include a range of activities sure to keep children with different interests entertained, including music, crafts, physical play and story time. It will be a fantastic opportunity for parents to meet other local families and learn about Council’s playgroup services and how they can benefit children and families.
