With the 2027 NSW state election just around the corner, it is critical that farmers’ voices are maximised and the issues impacting agriculture across the state are firmly on the political agenda.
That’s why, leading up to the election, NSW Farmers has launched a campaign where farmers can become a member for just $1.
As part of the trial, all new members will be entitled to receive the full range of benefits until March 2027, before moving onto a standard 12-month subscription, with the option to opt out at any time during the offer period.
NSW Farmers CEO Annabel Johnson said the $1 membership offer was an opportunity for farmers to strengthen their collective voice and increase their influence with all political parties.
“If you own a farm, work on a farm, manage a small lot, or simply work in agriculture, there’s a membership built for you. When farmers join NSW Farmers, they are adding their weight to thousands of others who want a stronger and more prosperous future for agriculture,” Ms Johnson said.
“The next state election is an important opportunity for farmers to make sure our voices are heard, and the strength of that voice comes from the number of farmers standing behind it.
“Members can help shape our policy positions, access exclusive discounts and offers that deliver value back to their business, and connect with other farmers through branches, events and webinars. They also receive regular updates on critical issues.
“Our commercial partnerships can deliver real savings on the things farmers are already buying, while our advocacy work ensures the interests of rural and regional communities are represented on the big issues shaping the future of agriculture.
“Whether it’s native vegetation, water, biosecurity, workforce, energy, regional infrastructure or firearm reform, the decisions being made in Sydney have a direct impact on farmers, their families and regional communities.”
With a number of regional and rural electorates expected to be closely contested at the March election, Ms Johnson said farmers have a genuine opportunity to influence the policy agenda of the next NSW Government.
“Agriculture will be a key issue with voters, not just for farmers but for every NSW resident who cares about the cost and security of food, the strength of regional communities and the future of the state’s economy – for which farming contributes over $25 billion per year and supports over 80,000 jobs.
