Police can confirm one person has died following a crash involving a motorbike in Matamata-Piako yesterday.
Police were alerted to the single-motorbike crash on Morrinsville-Tahuna Road, between Paeroa-Tahuna Road and Quine Road, about 6.45pm.
One person died at the scene, while another rider on the same bike was transported to hospital in a serious condition. Police are providing support to their families.
The Serious Crash Unit carried out a scene examination and the road reopened before midnight.
Enquiries into the cause of the crash are ongoing.
