Ferguson’s Infrastructure Pipeline all smoke and mirrors

Tasmanian Labor
  • 30 year infrastructure strategy delayed three times
  • Pipeline of projects mostly concepts and hollow promises
  • Shadow Roads and Infrastructure Minister David O’Byrne said that Michael Ferguson’s first ten year infrastructure pipeline was worthless without a detailed and long-term delivery strategy.

“Michael Ferguson’s pipeline is pie in the sky nonsense without proper investment and a strategy to deliver it,” Mr O’Byrne said.

“Three times the Liberals have promised to deliver a 30 year infrastructure strategy and three times it’s been delayed. It remains nowhere to be seen.

“We know from this year’s Budget, that the Liberals will spend less on infrastructure next year.

“The Burnie Port looks like getting no State Government funding over the next decade, while the phantom underground bus mall seems destined to be stuck in concept-form for eternity.

“And despite the Budget showing many school infrastructure projects have been delayed due to the Liberals poor economic management, this document says only Taroona High is facing delays. How can these projects be built without any money?

“Tasmanians deserve better than Will Hodgman and Michael Ferguson’s hollow promises on infrastructure.”

Shadow Minister for Roads and Infrastructure
