Police are reminding the Snowy Mountains community and its visitors to stay safe ahead of this weekend’s Snow Tunes music festival.
Throughout the two-day festival, a high-visibility police operation will be in place, targeting illicit drug use and supply, anti-social behaviour and road compliance.
The operation will involve officers from Monaro Police District, the NSW Police Dog Unit and other specialist command support.
Monaro Police District Commander, Superintendent Paul Condon, said police will be there to uphold the law and ensure the safety of all festival-goers.
“As with previous years, we have been working closely with the organisers to ensure the event is held in the safest possible environment,” Supt Condon said.
“We will be utilising police resources from across the state to address a range of issues, including rural road safety, drug supply and use, anti-social behaviour and licensing.
“We want every single person attending to enjoy the event and have a safe time.”
Additionally, officers from the Traffic and Highway Patrol Command will be deployed to target speeding, drink-and-drug-driving and other dangerous driver behaviour to ensure everyone gets to and from the event safely.
“We want Snow Tunes to be an incident-free event and that includes getting people to and from the event safely,” Supt Condon said.
“Those who choose to do the wrong thing not only compromise their own safety, but also the safety of those around them.
“If you’re thinking about bringing illegal drugs into the festival or driving home after a few drinks, rest assured you will be caught and dealt with accordingly.”
The Snow Tunes music festival officially kicks off today (Friday 30 August 2019) and runs over two days.
