Fire Hazard Inspection Program

Manningham Council

Council undertakes a risk based approached to the annual FHIP, This involves inspection of privately-owned properties across the municipality.

Our Municipal Fire Prevention Officers will inspect properties in the lead up and during the Fire Danger Period to check if there are fire hazards that need to be addressed on private land. The Fire Danger Period is declared by the CFA, based on amount of rain, grassland curing rate and other local conditions.

There are many options available to you in order to maintain your property all year round and remove garden waste to prepare for bushfire season

Properties most likely to be inspected

  • those in high fire risk areas within the Manningham Bushfire Management Overlay (BMO)
  • vacant properties
  • properties that have previously been issued with a Fire Prevention Notice.

If we inspect a property and find fire hazards, a Fire Prevention Notice is issued to the property owner/s. The Notice outlines the works that must be completed to fix the hazard.

The Notice is issued in accordance with the Country Fire Authority Act 1958 and the Fire Rescue Victoria Act 1958.
