Firearm and drug arrest at Labrador, QLD

A 53-year-old man has been charged after firearms and drugs were located at a house at Labrador yesterday morning.

Around 6.20am a search warrant was executed on a Turpin Road residence by members of the Gold Coast Major and Organised Crime Squad following investigations into the illegal supply of firearms.

It is alleged police located two pistol crossbows, a shortened 12 gauge shot gun, a musket style handgun, a replica handgun, two taser cartridges and two MDMA tablets.

A 39-year-old man from Labrador has been charged with firearm and drug offences.

He is due to face Southport Magistrates Court on March 8.

Detective Superintendent Brendan Smith said police will continue to target serious offences particularly involving the illegal firearm trade.

“The selling of illegal firearms can lead to them being used in the commission of other serious or violent crimes which is why we will maintain our focus on those involved and bring them before the courts,” said Detective Superintendent Smith.

Investigations are ongoing.
