Firearms stolen from vehicle overnight at Gunnedah, NSW

Police are appealing for information after two firearms were stolen from a vehicle in the state’s north-east overnight.

Between 9.30pm yesterday (Wednesday 4 September 2019) and 6.30am today (Thursday 5 September 2019), two firearms were stolen from the footwell of a vehicle parked on Little Barber Street at Gunnedah.

The owner of the vehicle notified officers attached to Oxley Police District of the theft after the ute was found resting against a boundary fence with both firearms and several other items missing this morning.

Initial inquiries reveal unknown person/s forced entry to the home between the hours of 9.30pm and 6.30am overnight and took the car keys and several other items from the vehicle.

Police are also making inquiries into the safe storage of the firearms, and remind the community that it is an offence not to secure firearms.
