  • Return for direct flights supported by Western Australian Government

Western Australia has secured more flights between Jakarta and Perth with the return of the Indonesian airline Citilink.

The first Citilink direct flight from Indonesia touched down in Perth last night, with the Indonesian airline now operating between Perth and two destinations in Indonesia.

This includes a daily return service between Bali and Perth, which began on 19 July, and the three weekly return services between Jakarta and Perth which commenced operations yesterday.

As WA’s closest international neighbour and with a population of 273 million people, Indonesia is an important market for the State and the expansion of flight services will foster new tourism, education and trade opportunities.

The new flights will be operated by an A320, adding thousands of additional seats between Perth and Jakarta and Bali each week, estimated to bring in more than 93,000 inbound passengers per year.

More than 10,000 Indonesian visitors travelled to our State last year, spending an estimated $40 million in 2022.

As stated by Tourism Minister Rita Saffioti:

“Indonesia is an important international tourism market for WA and represented the State’s seventh largest market by visitor numbers in 2019, spending an estimated $81 million in WA that year.

“The WA Government welcomes this Citilink flight from our closest international neighbour and we are very excited to welcome this new direct service between Perth and Jakarta.
