Work on the $26.88 million upgrade of the historic Epping Aquatic Centre is on track to begin by mid next year with the City of Parramatta Council today sharing the final design for the centre.

City of Parramatta Lord Mayor Cr Sameer Pandey said the upgrade would deliver more pool facilities, improved accessibility and a new family play area while retaining the unique character of the centre.

“Epping pool has been a much-loved part of this community since the 1960s. We’ve worked hard to ensure this upgrade will retain what’s special about it – like its connection to the surrounding bush – while providing modern facilities that will ensure it can be used by more of the community year-round,” Cr Pandey said.

“The new design delivers on our commitment to provide a new 20-metre indoor pool for swim school and other activities, and an upgraded, more accessible 50-metre outdoor pool.

“For the kids, a reimagined family play area, including upgraded shallow splash pools with beach entry and water play equipment will be included alongside the picnic area.

“In addition, two lifts will be installed connecting the carpark to the centre, and we’ll deliver new change facilities for all users, including family rooms.”
