First Nations Cancer Scholarship – Applications now open

Cancer Australia

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander postgraduate students, early career researchers and health professionals in cancer related fields are encouraged to apply for the First Nations Cancer Scholarship. Each scholarship is valued at up to $120,000 per year for up to three years and provides academic, wellbeing and community support.

Cancer remains the leading cause of mortality for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Improving cancer outcomes requires Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander leadership in cancer policy making, research, and care delivery.

This scholarship aims to expand the network of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people actively involved in cancer control, further embedding Indigenous voices into national health planning and decision making.

Expressions of Interest for the First Nations Cancer Scholarship are currently being accepted until 11 September 2026.
