Five drivers detected more than 45pm/h over limit in Sydney

Five drivers have been caught allegedly exceeding the speed limit by more than 45km/h in separate incidences in Sydney overnight.

About 7.30pm yesterday (Friday 24 July 2020), officers from the Traffic and Highway Patrol Command were following a Holden Commodore when the driver accelerated, allegedly reaching a speed of 115km in a marked 60km/h zone.

Police stopped the car and spoke to the driver – a 51-year-old Liverpool man. He was issued an infringement for exceeding the speed limit by more than 45km/h and had his licence immediately suspended.

About 9.30pm (Friday 24 July 2020), officers were conducting speed enforcement duties on Camden Valley Way, Edmondson Park, when they detected a Nissan Skyline allegedly travelling at 131km/h near Talana Hill Drive.

The driver – a 25-year-old man – was stopped and issued was issued an infringement for exceeding the speed limit by more than 45km/h. The Minto man’s licence was suspended, and his registration cancelled for three months.

About 9.50pm (Friday 24 July 2020), Police attached to St George Highway Patrol detected a Volkswagen Golf GTI allegedly travelling on Henry Lawson Drive, Padstow Heights at 154km/h in a 70km/h signposted zone.

The driver – a 17-year-old Mortdale man – was stopped and produced a P1 provisional licence. He was issued with a court attendance notice for exceeding the speed limit by more than 45km/h and speed manner dangerous. The man’s licence was also suspended, and his registration cancelled.

He is due to appear at Sutherland Local Court on Tuesday 20 October 2020.

About 10pm (Friday 24 July 2020), Police were travelling west on Camden Valley Way, Leppington when they observed a Honda Civic allegedly travelling at 153km/h in a sign posted 80km/h zone.

The 19-year-old male driver was stopped by police and allegedly produced an expired P1 provisional drivers’ licence. The West Hoxton man was issued with a court attendance notice for exceeding the speed limit by more than 45km/h, speed manner dangerous and driving with an expired licence.

He is due to appear at Liverpool Local Court on Tuesday 25 August 2020.

About 1.10am this morning (Saturday 25 July 2020), police conducting speed enforcement duties on the Hume Highway, Prestons detected a Mitsubishi Lance sedan allegedly travelling at 178km/h in a marked 100km/h zone.

Officers stopped the vehicle and spoke to the driver – a 19-year-old Quakers Hill man who produced a P2 provisional licence. His licence was immediately suspended, and he was issued with a court attendance notice for exceeding the speed limit by more than 45km/h and speed manner dangerous.

He is due to appear at Liverpool Local Court on Tuesday 25 August 2020.
