Cathay Pacific will take to the skies an extra five times per week following the addition of new services between Hong Kong and Perth.

The airline will nearly double its current flight schedule from six to 11 flights per week from today, surpassing previous service frequency in 2019.

This expansion will provide for an additional 70,000inbound seats into Western Australia each year, solidifying WA’s reputation as Australia’s Western Gateway.

Cathay Pacific offers connections to over 200 destinations across Asia, Europe and North America, strengthening Perth’s accessibility to the global market.

These new flights will be operated using a combination of Boeing 777-300 and Airbus A350 aircraft and are expected to boost trade and tourism opportunities between Hong Kong and WA.

Newly confirmed services will see 25 international airlines now servicing Western Australia and non-stop connections established with 20 global destinations including Paris, Johannesburg and China.

Perth is also preparing to welcome back China Southern Airlines’ direct flights between Guangzhou and Perth next month, as well as China Eastern Airlines’ special Chinese New Year services between Shanghai and Perth.

As stated by Tourism Minister Rita Saffioti:

“This expansion of Cathay Pacific’s services is a clear indication of the strengthening ties between Hong Kong and Western Australia, the increasing demand for travel between our regions and the growing appeal of Perth as a premier tourism destination.

“The increased flight frequency will not only enhance connectivity but also provide a significant boost to our local economy by attracting more tourists and business travellers – and more direct flights to WA broadens our appeal as a location for investment.
