Byron Shire Council is putting together a submission for the NSW Flood Inquiry and invites community members to share their recent flood event stories and experiences at Your Say Byron Shire.

We’ll be inviting and gathering stories until the deadline of 15 May 2022 so that we can make Byron Shire Council’s submission to the inquiry by 20 May.

“The NSW Flood Inquiry provides a forum for the voices in our community voices to be heard and helps prepare NSW for future disaster events,” Byron Shire Mayor, Michael Lyon, said.

“The recent flood events have directly or indirectly affected everyone in our community and we invite anyone who would like to share their experiences via the Your Say Byron Shire web page,” Mayor Lyon said.

“You can add as many photographs as you like and your story can be submitted confidentially and remain private if you would like it to,” he said.

“This is an opportunity to ensure your story is captured and to pass on the details of your experience, from the devastation and loss, to the stories of bravery, community resilience, compassion and kindness.

“Tell us about the details and topics you feel strongly about and would like to see represented in our official submission, and please make your own submission to the NSW Flood Inquiry as well,” Mayor Lyon said.

Share your flood experience stories with Byron Shire Council via https://www.yoursaybyronshire.com.au/floodinquiry by 15 May 2022.

People are strongly encouraged to also make individual submissions to the NSW Flood Inquiry.
