Flood watch for Northern Rivers and Mid North Coast of New South Wales

BOM

Released: 16:00pm AEDT

The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a Flood Watch and Severe Weather Warning for the Northern Rivers and parts of the Mid North Coast and Northern Tablelands in New South Wales. An increasing number of flood warnings are current and the weather and flood situation is dangerous and unfolding.

This rain is being triggered by the same weather system that has brought extensive flooding to south-east Queensland over the past few days.

Heavy rain is expected to increase on Sunday, continuing into at least Monday, before it will begin to ease. With many catchments saturated, dangerous and life-threatening flash and riverine flooding is a concern.

A Flood Watch for moderate to major flooding for the Wilsons, Richmond, Clarence and Orara rivers is active. This impacts communities including Lismore and Grafton.

Communities should be prepared for flood impacts and are encouraged to keep up to date with the latest forecasts and warnings on the Bureau’s website and BOM Weather app, and to follow the advice of emergency services https://www.bom.gov.au/nsw/warnings/
