Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) advises that STRONG Winds are expected to impact the Sarabah bushfire this evening. Winds are forecast to increase from midnight.
Properties in the areas of:
• Canungra
• Witheren
• Ferny Glen
• Fly Fox
• Illinbah
• Sarabah
• O’Reilly
• Cainbable
• Binna Burra
• Numinbah Valley
• Beechmont
These winds will impact the fire and may cause it to intensify and spread quickly. Conditions may become very dangerous, with firefighters unable to prevent the fire advancing.
People in the area will be affected by thick smoke and embers, which will reduce visibility and air quality, making it difficult to see, hear and breath.
You need to keep up to date with current warnings and decide what actions you will take if the situation changes. You need to be ready to follow your Bushfire Survival Plan. If you do not have a plan, or intend to leave, you should be ready to leave the area, because the situation could get worse quickly.
