Windsor Community Children’s Centre Lease Finalised

The City of Stonnington has taken another important step in supporting the Windsor Community Children’s Centre, finalising a new lease agreement that will see the much-loved service continue operating at 131-133 Union Street.

The lease agreement delivers certainty for local children, families and staff who rely on the long daycare and kindergarten services the centre provides.

Mayor Cr Melina Sehr said the outcome reflected Council’s commitment to supporting a valued community-run service that has operated from the site for almost three decades.

“Windsor Community Children’s Centre has been an important part of the community since 1997, so this is a fantastic outcome for local families,” Cr Sehr said.

“The community made it clear how much they valued this service, and Council listened. By purchasing the property from Swinburne University of Technology and finalising a new lease, Council has enabled the centre to continue operating from its long-standing home.”

“Opportunities to acquire community assets like this do not come along often. We’re proud to have worked closely with Swinburne, Windsor Community Children’s Centre and community advocates to achieve this outcome,” said Cr Sehr.

The new lease will commence 1 January 2027.
