Detectives have conducted a forensic search in bushland about 16km south-west of Goulburn as part of the investigation into the suspicious disappearance of a Western Sydney woman.
Samah Baker, aged 30, was last seen after she was dropped off at her Early Street, Parramatta, home by a friend in the early hours of Friday 4 January 2019.
She was reported missing by relatives later that day after they could not get in contact with her.
She is described as being Mediterranean/Middle Eastern in appearance, 155-165 cm tall, with a medium build, and long dark hair.
Detectives from Parramatta Police Area Command, assisted by detectives from the Homicide Squad, established Strike Force Boutcher to investigate her disappearance, which is being treated as suspicious.
Following extensive inquiries, strike force investigators, with the assistance of The Hume Police District and specialist Forensic Services Group officers, conducted a forensic search in bushland at Yarra from 9am yesterday (Wednesday 6 March 2019).
Officers located several items which may be relevant to the investigation. These items were seized to undergo forensic examination.
As their inquiries continue, Strike Force Boutcher detectives are appealing for anyone with dashcam footage, who was driving on the Hume Highway near the French VC rest stop at Yarra between 9pm and midnight on Friday 4 January 2019, to come forward.
Parramatta Police Area Commander, Superintendent Julie Boon, said the search at the site was also expected to continue today (Thursday 7 March 2019).
“We’ve had great community support following an appeal earlier this week, but we are continuing to call on those who can provide us with details of Samah Baker’s movements in early January,” Supt Boon said.
“We believe there are people out there who may know where Samah is but are fearful or reluctant to come forward.
“To them I say, please put yourselves in the shoes of the Baker family. They want to find their beloved daughter and sister and bring her home.
“It could just be that small detail or dashcam vision that could help investigators find Samah.”
