Fourth man charged over attempted murder – Surry Hills

Detectives have charged a fourth man over the alleged stabbing and attempted murder of two men in Surry Hills.

Shortly after 3am on Saturday 29 July 2023, emergency services were called to Oxford Street, following reports of a stabbing outside a nightclub.

Police will allege in court that a 25-year-old man was approached by a group of men – armed with knives – and stabbed multiple times. A 34-year-old man was also allegedly stabbed, when he went to the aid of the younger man.

The younger man was driven to St Vincent’s Hospital by friends, where he was treated for his injuries.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the older man, and he was conveyed to hospital for injuries sustained to his arm and hand.

Both have since been released from hospital.

Officers from Surry Hills Police Area Command established a crime scene and commenced an investigation under Strike Force Jacob.

During the course of the investigation, strike force investigators charged three men, aged 18, 21 and 21, who remain before the courts.

Following further inquiries, detectives arrested an 18-year-old man on Hollingsworth Road, Marsden Park, about 7am today (Thursday 9 November 2023).

He was taken to Mt Druitt Police Station, where he was charged with cause wounding/grievous bodily harm to person with intent to murder, affray, and reckless wounding – in company.

The Blacktown man was refused bail to appear at Mt Druitt Local Court today.
