Fraud charges, North Brisbane

A 34-year-old Brisbane man has been charged following a number of fraud related offences allegedly committed in northern Brisbane suburbs since October 29.

Police will allege the man stole several electronic health claims system machines from various health related businesses and fraudulently used them for his own gain.

Businesses included medical centres, optometrists and massage services across Nundah, Hendra and Brisbane City.

Detectives executed a search warrant and arrested the man at an Edmonstone Road, Bowen Hills address yesterday, December 21.

He has been charged with 27 offences including enter premises and commit indicatable offence, fraud (dishonest application of property of another), fraud (dishonest application of property of another value at least $100,000), receiving tainted property, obtaining or dealing with identification information and drug related matters.

He is due to appear before Brisbane Magistrates Court today, December 22.

Investigators believe there may be further businesses that were targeted and appeal for anyone with information to contact police.

Investigations are continuing.
