Free grant writing workshop for community groups and businesses

Bega Valley Shire Council is hosting a free workshop on how to secure grant funding for community groups and business owners at the Bega Valley Commemorative Civic Centre in Bega on Wednesday 28 February from 5pm to 7pm.

Council’s Corporate Planning and Improvement Manager, Kaliegh Smerdon said the workshop is ideal for community groups and businesses interested in current and future grant funding opportunities, including Council’s Community Grants Program.

“Grants expert, Keith Whelan will go through the grant application process which includes compiling a project plan and budget, writing a business case, filling out funding application forms and the grant acquittal, auditing and evaluation process,” Ms Smerdon said.

“This will be invaluable for people wanting to prepare for and write grant applications.

“The workshop will also cover current developments in government and philanthropic grants and how to get your organisation or business ‘Grants Ready’.

“Council staff will provide information about Council’s Community Grants program which are currently available and for projects on Council owned or managed land, how to submit a Community Project Proposal or Use of Public Land application.”

Community groups and business owners can register for the grant writing workshop via the Business Activator website. Tea and coffee will be provided.

The workshop is jointly funded by the Australian and NSW governments.
